Pathfinder Online is a Fantasy Sandbox MMO with Open World PvP based on the Pathfinder intellectual property used with a license from Paizo, inc.

The world of Pathfinder Online is highly persistent. You will make meaningful impacts on the world as you build structures, create a economy of player character crafted goods, and struggle for territorial control.

You will struggle for control of territory, trade routes, and resources with other players. Conflict is central to the game, and often conflict will mean combat. Some areas of the world are safer than others - but the more risk you take, the greater the rewards you will earn.

Pathfinder Adventures translates the best-selling Pathfinder Adventure Card Game into an entirely new breed of digital card game, where players adventure collaboratively to battle monsters and villains, and acquire new feats, items, weapons, and allies.

Combat between player characters should be meaningful. Randomly attacking others without context will damage your character's reputation, affect their alignment, potentially flag the attacker for retribution by others, trigger bounties, and over the long term, force the character to live and train only with others of a similarly murderous bent, significantly impacting their abilities.

With the exception of some low-level gear for new players all the equipment, supplies, building materials, and consumables in the game will be created by player characters from resources they harvest and exchanged via in game markets. Characters will have to arrange to transport their raw materials, intermediate processed components, and finished goods to crafting facilities and then to active markets.

You can play as an iconic role familiar to players of the tabletop Pathfinder roleplaying game - an adventuring hero like a Fighter, Wizard, Cleric or Rogue (and in time, like the other classes in the tabletop RPG) or you can explore many more ways to develop your character. The world of Pathfinder Online is a superset of the tabletop experience. Characters can be spies, diplomats, soldiers, teamsters, explorers, or hundreds of other occupations and specialties. You will determine how your character develops. Follow a traditional role, or mix & match character abilities as you see fit to create your own customized and unique approach.

Pathfinder Online, a massively multiplayer online (MMO) fantasy roleplaying game, is in development by Paizo Inc., and was previously developed by Goblinworks.

Pathfinder Online takes place in Pathfinder campaign setting, and is a hybrid sandbox/theme park-style MMO roleplaying game where characters explore, develop, and dominate the River Kingdoms, a treacherous no-man's-land of squabbling kingdoms on the edge of wilderness. Players explore, adventure, develop, and dominate their domains by playing fighters, rogues, wizards, or any of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game's many character types, or they can use the game's archetype system go beyond standard options.

Pathfinder Online's robust trading system puts players in control of the world's economy with player-created items, consumables, fortifications, and settlements. Character-controlled settlements can grow into full-fledged kingdoms that compete for resources as they seek to become the dominant force in the land, raising vast armies to hold their territory against the depredations of monstrous creatures, NPC factions, and other player characters.

Social organizations scale from small parties of a few adventurers to player nations inhabited by thousands. As settlements develop, the surrounding wilderness develops more complex and challenging features, including randomly generated encounters and resources as well as scripted adventures.

Development

A computer game adaptation of the Pathfinder universe, Pathfinder Online, was launched on November 27, 2012 by Goblin Works and Paizo and was successful in attracting Kickstarter crowdfunding[1][2] in 2013 to finance its development.[3] An official alpha test was announced in late June 2014.[4] Early enrollment was announced on July 29, 2015.[2]</ref>

On August 28, 2015, Goblinworks laid off most of its staff due to a lack of anticipated funding, and announced talks with publishers to continue work on Pathfinder Online.[5] On March 17, 2017, Lisa Stevens announced that Paizo would fully take over and continue developing Pathfinder Online on its own, with a goal of opening enrollment in March 2018.[6]
